Terms of Service

How using this site works, and how working with me works, from the first brief to the day the project is yours.

Last updated 2 November 2026

  • Fixed price and date

Agreed in writing before any work starts.

  • You own the result

Your bespoke code and designs are yours once the final invoice is paid.

  • Fair deposit

Optional, comes off your invoice, and returned if we don't go ahead before work starts.

  • Your rights stay

Nothing here removes the consumer rights the law gives you.

01

Who you're dealing with

In short Me, Khaled Jamal, through my registered business in Lebanon.

Who
Khaled Jamal (Khaled Mohammad Jalal Jamal), also known online as Dequavious
Business
HELM, a commercial establishment in the Commercial Register, Zahle, Lebanon, No. 4014899
Registered office
Baalbek, Al-Saadeh, Property No. 160, Lebanon

"I" and "me" below mean Khaled Jamal and this business. "You" means the person or company using this site or hiring me. If you're hiring me for a company, you confirm that you're allowed to agree to these terms for it.

02

Using this site

In short Read and use it freely. The guides and calculators help you think, but they aren't professional advice.

  • The articles, calculators and estimates here are general information. They aren't legal, tax or financial advice, so check anything important with a professional before you rely on it.
  • Prices on this site are starting points. Only a written quote from me is binding.
  • The words, designs and images here belong to me or to the people who own them. You can quote and link to them, but please don't copy them as your own.
  • Please don't attack the site, try to get around its protections, or send spam through its forms.
  • Links to other sites are there because they're useful. I'm not responsible for what those sites do or say.
03

How a project runs

In short A brief, a fixed quote, the build, one review, launch, then a period of bug fixes.

I build custom software one project at a time: websites, web and mobile apps, desktop apps, AI agents, automation, trading systems and on-chain tools. The scope, deliverables, date and price are agreed in writing for each project, and that written agreement takes priority over these terms where they differ.

  1. 1

    Brief

You tell me what you need, through the project form or directly.

  2. 2

    Quote

A written, fixed quote within 24 hours of your completed brief.

  3. 3

    Build

I build to the agreed scope and send you progress as it comes together.

  4. 4

    Review

You get a live preview and send one round of comments.

  5. 5

    Launch

It goes live, and the final invoice is due within 7 days.

  6. 6

    Yours

Ownership moves to you, and bug-fix support runs for the agreed period.

04

Quotes and prices

In short Estimates on the site are rough. The written quote is the real number, and it holds for 14 days.

  • The wizard's estimate is an indication, not an offer. A binding quote comes in writing within 24 hours of your completed brief, and stays valid for 14 days unless it says otherwise.
  • Prices don't include VAT or similar taxes, or outside costs such as hosting, domains and paid services, unless the quote says they do.
  • Where it makes sense, outside services are set up in your name so that they stay yours.
05

Priority deposit

In short Optional. It comes off your final invoice, and you get it back if we don't go ahead before work starts.

The deposit is optional and paid through Stripe. It puts you ahead of open enquiries, and your start date is confirmed within 48 hours of payment. The amount is fixed:

£150

gbp

€175

eur

$200

usd

CA$250

cad

It comes off your final invoice. You get it back if we don't go ahead before work starts, or if I don't deliver, and the Refund Policy has the full rules.

06

If you're buying as a consumer

In short Buying for yourself in the UK or EU? You usually get 14 days to change your mind.

Most of my clients are businesses, and this section doesn't apply to them. If you're buying for yourself, not for a business, and you live in the UK or EU, you can usually cancel within 14 days of agreeing to the project, without giving a reason. Email [email protected] to do it.

If you ask me to start inside those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point, and I refund the rest. If you've received digital work and agreed that you'd lose this right once it was delivered, you can no longer cancel it. Where you live may give you other rights too, and these terms don't take those away.

07

Scope, changes and review

In short Fixed scope, one review round included. Anything new gets its own price before I do it.

  • Each project has a fixed scope and date. The date depends on getting your content, access and answers when we agreed, and moves if those come late.
  • One consolidated round of review comments is included. Further rounds are charged at the rate in your quote.
  • New work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately, and only starts once you approve it.
08

Payment

In short Unless your quote says otherwise, the balance is due within 7 days of delivery.

  • Payment terms are agreed for each project. By default, the balance is due within 7 days of delivery.
  • I invoice in pounds, euros, US dollars or Canadian dollars, as agreed in your quote.
  • If a payment is more than 14 days late, I can pause work and support until it's paid, and charge any late-payment interest the law allows.
09

After launch

In short 1 to 4 weeks of bug fixes, depending on your package. Ongoing work and Helm are separate.

  • Your quote sets a bug-fix period of 1 to 4 weeks. It covers faults in what I delivered, not new features or problems caused by changes made by someone else.
  • Ongoing support or new work is agreed separately.
  • If your project runs on Helm, your subscription follows Helm's own terms.
10

Who owns what

In short Once the final invoice is paid, the bespoke work is yours. I keep my general tools and know-how.

  • Once the final payment clears, ownership of the code, designs and content I made specifically for you passes to you.
  • Anything you give me stays yours. You confirm that you have the right to let me use it for the project.
  • Open-source libraries and other outside software stay under their own licences.
  • I keep Helm, my own tools, and any general code and know-how that aren't specific to you, and I can reuse them in other work.
  • I can show the finished project in my portfolio unless we agree in writing that it stays private.
11

Confidentiality

In short What you tell me in private stays private. An NDA is available if you want one.

I keep your non-public information confidential. I only share it with the services needed to deliver the project, such as hosting, email and development tools, and I expect them to protect it too. This doesn't cover information that's already public or that the law requires me to disclose. I'm happy to sign an NDA on request.

12

Your customers' data

In short If I handle your customers' data, you decide what happens to it and I follow your instructions.

If a project means I handle personal data about your customers or staff, you're responsible for it and for having a legal basis to use it. I only handle it to deliver the project, keep it secure, and tell you about any breach I find out about. If the law where you are requires a data processing agreement, ask me and we'll sign one before I touch the data. My own use of personal data is covered in the Privacy Policy.

13

Liability

In short My liability is limited to what you paid for the project, except where the law doesn't allow a limit.

  • I build with reasonable skill and care, but no software is free of every fault, and I can't promise that it will never fail or that it will bring a particular business result.
  • My total liability for a project is limited to the fees you paid for that project.
  • I'm not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit or lost business.
  • Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law doesn't allow me to limit. If you're a consumer, your legal rights aren't affected.
14

Ending a project

In short Either of us can end it for a serious breach that isn't fixed in 14 days. You pay for work done and get what exists.

Either of us can end a project if the other seriously breaches these terms or the written agreement and doesn't fix it within 14 days of written notice. You then pay for the work done up to that date, and I hand over the work in its current state.

15

Governing law and disputes

In short Lebanese law applies. Let's try to sort things out by talking first. Consumers keep their local rights.

If something goes wrong, please email me first. Most things get solved that way.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lebanon, and the courts of Beirut have exclusive jurisdiction. If you're established outside Lebanon, any dispute is instead finally resolved by arbitration seated in Beirut, in English, before a sole arbitrator.

If you're a consumer, nothing here removes your right to go to the courts your law gives you, or the protection of the mandatory rules where you live.

16

Changes to these terms

In short If they change, the date at the top changes. Your project stays under the terms you agreed to.

I may update these terms, and the date at the top of this page shows the latest version. A project already agreed stays under the version in place when you agreed it, unless we both agree to change it. For anything here, email [email protected].
